Summary: Blockchain Technologies Corp. traveled to Iowa for the 2016 caucuses. With the Rand Paul campaign, they were able to get Republican precinct captains to directly post their results to a custom webapp (you can see it at IowaCaucus.net or VoteWatcher.com) that recorded the results onto the Bitcoin blockchain.
This is the first time that government election results have been posted onto the blockchain.
Amid all of the controversy surrounding the use of Microsoft’s new mobile apps, election results directly posted by the individual precinct captains to a publicly viewable blockchain (e.g. Bitcoin) seems like a much better solution.
